EcoVadis rewards Demetra’s commitment to sustainability

Demetra has announced the confirmation, also with reference to 2023, of the EcoVadis bronze medal for sustainability. This is a highly significant achievement to be proud of, given that EcoVadis*—the benchmark for corporate sustainability ratings—has tightened its eligibility criteria.

With an overall score of 60/100, Demetra has improved in all four categories (Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement) compared to last year. According to EcoVadis’ eligibility criteria, Demetra is ranked in the top 27% of all rated companies.

“We are extremely proud of this achievement, which wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment of the other companies in the group – Tecres, Osartis, and OsteoRemedies – among the most innovative and dynamic in the healthcare industry,” said Demetra’s CEO, Michele Perrino. “This bronze medal is one of the ways Demetra demonstrates its long-term commitment to promoting sustainability. Now, we’ll raise the bar, pursuing even more ambitious sustainability goals and sharing our progress transparently with our community.”

Over the years, Demetra has consistently improved its rating, laying the groundwork for innovating and collaborating with partners with the same values. This is a continuing process involving wide-ranging strategic choices, including implementing human rights and environmental sustainability policies, a whistleblowing procedure, a code of conduct for all suppliers, and the Kodiak Hub platform to assess and monitor its suppliers’ performance even in terms of sustainability. Demetra has invested in improving emissions management and reporting, waste management, and the overall quality of its sustainability-related information and data.

*Established in 2007, EcoVadis has created a network of over 130,000 rated companies. Its methodology is based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the UN Global Compact, and ISO 26000, covering 220+ spend categories and 180+ countries.
